AI. Everyone is talking about it.

AI. Everyone is talking about it. Likely you’ve used it. Maybe today. Let’s face it AI can help small to medium businesses vastly improve efficiency, save money and boost productivity and competitiveness. I use it. In fact, 75% of small to medium businesses use AI in some manner and the Australian Government recently estimated AI and automation could add up to $600 billion to our GDP by 2030.

As a risk manager and CEO, I worry about how I balance the use of AI and protect the trust of my customers and my company’s reputation. Customers are expecting, and receive, unique solutions based on decades of subject matter expertise. But we do use AI in the early project phases when it makes sense. Could this be misconstrued? Could false information accidentally be passed along?

To address this and be a responsible AI-user my business will be an early and voluntary adopter of transparent AI disclaimers. Have you seen others doing this? I love it. It immediately conveys to stakeholders what is, and importantly, is not AI content. I value the subject matter expertise of my team, as do my customers, so I guard it carefully. Consider it. Don’t let your optimism bias overinflate your confidence about potential for criticism or accidental spread of misinformation.
