Unforeseen events

It’s almost certain that someone living in your neighborhood will experience a significant unforeseen event this week. And someone else the following week, and so on. Unfortunate and unpleasant events happen all the time at work and at home but, thanks to (maybe) our evolutionary adaptation most of us don’t think something significant will happen to us today, or next week, or the week after that.

This optimism bias is good in some ways, because it enables us to enjoy life, be creative at work, manage stress and deal with setbacks. In other ways, it supports poor decision making, such as taking on too much risk or failing to prepare for the worst.

If you’re leading a business that wants to be ready for significant unforeseen events which may knock your organisation, reach out to me, and find out more about how Riskfacta™ can help you be ready before, during and after an unplanned event.
